Emeka, residing at Oseni Street, Oshodi, is facing a one-count charge of indecent treatment of a child, to which she pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, SP Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 1 at her residence.

Ikhayere alleged that the defendant burnt the 11-year-old boy’s body with fire from burning nylon.

She stated that the defendant also hit the boy’s head on an object, causing his head and body to swell.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Section 135 prescribes a seven-year imprisonment term for anyone found guilty of indecently dealing with a child.

The Magistrate, Lateef Owolabi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N280,000 with two sureties in like sum.
