Abayomi Adebayo, president of the Ondo State All-Star Veteran Footballers, says the team will grow in unity and improve on its performance at the just-concluded All-Star South-West regional qualifications.

The team secured qualification for the National All-Stars Football Championship scheduled for August in Lagos.

Mr Adebayo, who stated this while speaking on Monday in Akure, appreciated the team for their dedication, commitment, and continued support of the current executive members.

According to him, the team earned its spot after finishing as runners-up at the South-West Veterans All Stars Qualifiers held at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta, Ogun.

“Four states participated in the regional qualifying competition: Ondo, Oyo, Ekiti, and the host, Ogun. We will continue to keep our retired and not tired veterans fit for the live of the game,” he said.

Mr Adebayo also said that two new patrons of the team were unveiled during the grand finale of the event in Abeokuta.

“The patrons are Mr Segun David, chief executive officer of 1475 Hotel and Lounge, and a businessman, Mr Ibrahim Dende. I congratulate the newly inaugurated patrons, and I am confident that their inclusion will yield fruitful outcomes for the association,” he said.

Both Ogun and Ondo States’ all-stars, as champions and first runners-up, respectively, qualified for the national championship.
