Over 100 flights cancelled due to air traffic glitch in UK
Over 100 flights were cancelled on Wednesday due to an air traffic control technical glitch in the United Kingdom.
Wednesday’s air traffic control technical issue experienced on Wednesday disrupted flights in the UK.
Citing analytics firm Cirium, the BBC reported that “As of 19:30 BST, 67 departures from the UK had been cancelled, plus 55 arrivals,” due to the technical issue.
Earlier in the day, the UK National Air Traffic Services (NATS), in a statement, announced the development, apologising to travellers for the technical glitch.
“As a result of a technical issue at NATS Swanwick air traffic control centre, we are limiting the number of aircraft flying in the London control area in order to ensure safety, which is always our first priority.”
After some hours, NAT announced it had resolved the technical issue and resumed operations.
