Police arraign man, 42, for allegedly assaulting nurse

The Police, on Thursday, arraigned a 42-year-old man, Akinwamide Akintayo, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly assaulting a nurse.
The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a charge of assault.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
The prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 26, at about 08:40 p.m at Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant assaulted a nurse named Adodo Labake at the hospital and caused her bodily harm.
Mr Adeniyi said that the defendant had a patient in the hospital and kept disturbing the facility and a nurse cautioned him and he assaulted the nurse.
He said the offence contravened Section 186 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.
The Counsel to the defendant, Temidayo Akeredolu, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case till Sept.11, for hearing.
