U-15 secondary schools holiday sports begin in Enugu

The Enugu State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has announced the commencement of the Under-15 Youth Sports Holiday Programme in the three senatorial districts.
Lloyd Ekweremadu, the commissioner for youth and sports, announced this in a statement on Friday.
The commissioner said the sports programme, which began on Friday (today), is being held simultaneously in the six education zones of the state: Enugu, Agbani, Awgu, Udi, Nsukka, and Udenu.
He said that the programme was organised in collaboration with the Post-Primary Schools Management Board.
“The games will feature athletics, boxing, judo, wrestling, and chess, as well as para-athletics, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, badminton, and karate.
“Others are football, volleyball, basketball, traditional sports, and squash,” he said.
According to Mr Ekweremadu, the programme was designed to help the state select athletes that would represent the state in the upcoming under-15 National Youth Games.
The U-15 youth games are scheduled to take place in Asaba, Delta, from August 26 to September 6.
