Trump injects fresh $100 billion investment into Apple boost U.S. economy

President Donald Trump plans to announce an additional $100 billion investment into the American economy by tech giant Apple, amid pressure from the White House to increase manufacturing inside the United States.
“President Trump’s America First economic agenda has secured trillions of dollars in investments that support American jobs and bolster American businesses,” White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers said in a statement.
She added, “Today’s announcement with Apple is another win for our manufacturing industry that will simultaneously help reshore the production of critical components to protect America’s economic and national security.”
The pledge will increase Apple’s commitment to step up production locally to $600 billion after the company had earlier in February announced that it planned to invest $500 billion and hire 20,000 people in the United States over the next four years.
The Trump administration has continued to increase pressure on American companies to move production from their main bases home from outside the U.S., especially China and India in the aftermath of the American leader’s Liberation Day retaliatory tariffs earlier this year.
Apple made similar smaller pledges during the Biden administration and Mr Trump’s first term, but the company has yet fulfilled some of the promises.
