Husband, wife nabbed for starving child to death

A U.S. couple, Brandon M. Kelley and Stacey D. Kelley, were accused of murdering their child, Vyolet Kelley, after she was allegedly deprived of adequate nourishment and medical care.
The acting attorney in the southern district of Georgia, Tara Lyons, said the couple was indicted for felony murder and two counts of second-degree murder, alleging that the child died because she was deprived of adequate nourishment and medical care while living at Fort Stewart Military Reservation.
“The allegations in this case are heartbreaking on many levels. Our office will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to pursue justice,” Ms Lyons said on Friday.
Upon conviction, the Kelleys face potential penalties up to life in prison.
Though the case was investigated by the U.S. Army Criminal Investigative Division, it was prosecuted by assistant U.S. attorneys Timothy Dean and Greg Gilluly.
