Soludo’s wife tasks Anambra women on family planning

Wife of Anambra State governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has called for increased education on proper family planning among couples, saying that unplanned family is threat to societal stability.
Mrs Soludo, the founder of the Healthy Living initiative, made the statement on Monday in Awka, at the commencement of the 2025 August meeting for Christian women in the state.
Women from the South-East geo-political zone of Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo and Anambra states hold yearly meetings in August to deliberate on community matters especially that affecting women.
According to her, family planning is not merely a personal choice, but a critical pillar in the development of healthy families and communities.
She said, “An unplanned home is an impending disaster to society. When families grow beyond their capacity to nurture and support, the ripple effects are felt across education, healthcare, security and other sectors of society. Family is about planning a future where every child is wanted and every family is secure.’’
The governor’s wife urged the women to discuss fundamental issues affecting family and society during their 2025 meeting.
Mrs Soludo said that the August meetings should serve as platforms for women to highlight specific societal issues and propose solutions.
She stated, “It is important to draw attention to issues such as rising moral deficits in child raising, depreciation of family values, drug abuse among school children and parental neglects. Issues like the quest for illicit wealth among youths are key problems that the August meetings can address. We need to also promote tolerance, communal and religious peace, as well as offer women opportunities for ideological reforms, social growth and economic empowerment. There is the need to figure out viable avenues to reach out to members who are struggling with faith and life and to also dedicate time to spiritual revival.’’
Mrs Soludo wished the women of Anambra State a peaceful and fulfilling deliberation.
She also urged them to remember the state and the nation in their prayers.
