Nigeria reiterates commitment to strengthening ties with Republic of Congo

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties with the Republic of the Congo for the mutual benefits of both countries

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties with the Republic of the Congo for the mutual benefits of both countries.

Mr Tuggar made this known in a statement on Friday by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, on the sidelines of the country’s independence anniversary celebration.

The statement followed the minister’s congratulatory message to his counterpart, Jean-Claude Gakosso, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Congolese Abroad of the Republic of Congo.

Mr Tuggar said, “This anniversary is a symbol of the determination, unity and resilience of the Congolese peoples journey towards sovereignty and national development. As Nigeria joins in celebrating this historic milestone, we reaffirm our shared commitment to peace, mutual respect and enduring bonds of African brotherhood. 

Nigeria and the Republic of the Congo have maintained warm and cooperative relations strengthened by collaboration in trade, cultural exchange, maritime affairs and regional peace initiatives.

“On this special occasion, Nigeria reiterates its readiness to strengthen these valued ties, explore new areas of mutual benefits and continue working with the Republic of the Congo to address regional and global challenges.”

The minister expressed regards to the government and people of the Republic of Congo, saying there was hope of lasting harmony, economic advancement and shared prosperity between the two countries.
