Lagos police nab armed robbery suspect, recover arms
The operatives of the police command in Lagos State have detained a suspect for alleged armed robbery.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this in a statement on Saturday in Lagos.
He said that the suspect was apprehended on July 15 at about 1:00 a.m., based on credible intelligence.
“A team of Special Tactical Operatives from the command apprehended the suspect, a notorious armed robbery suspect, at his hideout in Ikorodu.
“Items recovered include one AK-49 rifle with Breech No. N704983, three magazines, 17 rounds of 47.62mm live ammunition, and three rounds of 9.19mm live ammunition,” he said.
Mr Hundeyin said that the suspect confessed to being the leader of a gang responsible for several violent crimes in Lagos.
According to him, the suspect is currently in custody and assisting in the apprehension of other gang members.
