Police nab six suspects for alleged robbery in Enugu

The police in Enugu have detained six male suspects over alleged robbery, motorcycle snatching, and cult-related activities in multiple operations in the state.
Police operatives also recovered two firearms, seven live rounds of ammunition, a stolen motorcycle and other incriminating items.
This is contained in a statement by the spokesman of the command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, on Sunday in Enugu.
Mr Ndukwe said that on Aug. 13, at 10:30 p.m., operatives attached to the Crack Tactical Squad, while on routine patrol in the Abakpa area of Enugu, intercepted a suspect riding a motorcycle and exhibiting suspicious behaviour.
He said the suspect (name withheld) was searched, leading to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol loaded with seven rounds of .9mm ammunition, concealed in a black bag.
Mr Ndukwe said that in a separate operation on Aug. 10, at about 5:00 a.m., operatives of the command’s anti-Cultism squad, acting on the confessions of two notorious robbery suspects, detained three additional male suspects.
He said the additional suspects (names withheld), aged between 22 and 24 years, confessed to being members of the Black Axe Confraternity.
“Recovered exhibits from the suspects included one locally made single-barrel pistol, one expended cartridge, three blue candlesticks and quantities of weeds suspected to be cannabis,” he said.
The spokesman said that in another operation, on Aug. 9, at 12:45 p.m., operatives attached to the Oji-River Police Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), detained two male suspects.
“The two suspects (names withheld) were apprehended while they attempted to sell a snatched Topway motorcycle. Their detention and recovery of the motorcycle followed police operatives’ prompt response to credible intelligence.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to having robbed a commercial motorcyclist of the bike at about 9 p.m. the previous day.
“Discreet investigations into the cases are ongoing. The detained suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations,” he said.
