VP Shettima leads condolence visit to Kogi governor over father’s death

Vice President Kashim Shettima has led a high-powered federal delegation to Kogi State to condole with Governor Ahmed Ododo over the death of his father, Ahmed Momohsani Ododo.
The governor’s father died on August 18 aged 83 and was buried on August 19, according to Islamic rites.
Upon arrival in Okene on Wednesday, the vice president was warmly received by the state deputy governor, Joel Salifu, and other high-ranking officials.
Speaking with journalists, Mr Shettima described the late Mr Ododo as “a man of deep faith and remarkable humility.’’
He said, “His life of service to God and humanity continues to reflect in the leadership qualities of his son, Governor Ododo.’’
He stressed that the visit highlighted the significance of the late Mr Ododo’s legacy and the esteem in which he was held by both the federal government and the people of Kogi State.
Mr Shettima urged the governor and his family to find solace in the fact that their father led a fulfilled life, leaving behind enduring legacies of discipline, truthfulness, and compassion.
He stated, “The condolence visit is a gesture of solidarity with Governor Ododo and his family during this difficult time.’’
The governor expressed profound appreciation to the vice president for the personal visit, despite his tight schedule.
Mr Ododo noted that the gesture demonstrated the vice president’s commitment to the values of unity and compassion.
