CDS reaffirms commitment to secure Katsina

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to securing Katsina State and other parts of the country.
Mr Musa made the pledge when he received members of the National Assembly from Katsina state, led by Sen. Abdulazeez Musa Yar’Adua, chairman, Senate committee on army, at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
This is contained in a statement by the director, defence information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau in Abuja on Friday .
Mr Musa assured them of continued partnership with the National Assembly, adding that the military had introduced newer tactics and strategies to defeat evolving security challenges.
He stressed that the ultimate goal of the armed forces was to restore peace and stability across the country.
Earlier, the lawmakers commended the armed forces for their sacrifices in protecting the nation, while paying glowing tribute to troops who paid the supreme price in the fight against insecurity.
They also briefed the CDS on the security situation in Katsina state and requested additional deployment of troops and assets to tackle emerging threats in the state.
