The Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has praised the newly established leather hub as a transformative initiative for Lagos State.

Mr Obasa stated this in a statement in Lagos on Sunday.

The Oluremi Tinubu Industrial Leather Hub is in the bustling Matori area of Mushin, Lagos.

Mr Obasa commended the government’s foresight, noting that the hub reaffirms the state’s vision to transform Lagos into an industrial powerhouse and global centre for innovation.

He said, “This is more than just a facility. It represents our resolve to harness the ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit of our people.’’

He added that the hub would empower artisans, create thousands of jobs, and position Lagos as a global leader in leather production and innovation.

The speaker also lauded the state government for naming the hub after the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

He described the gesture as a fitting tribute to her service as a three-term senator, empowerment advocate, and wife of the President.

The hub is projected to generate more than $250 million in export turnover annually, while providing 10,000 jobs and training support for 150,000 artisans.

The facility is expected to boost productivity and establish Lagos as the leather logistics capital of West Africa.

It is fitted with modern machinery capable of mass-producing shoes, bags, belts, packaging materials, and other leather products.

The hub was commissioned on Saturday as part of activities marking the First Lady’s three-day official visit to Lagos State.
