The Nigerian Air Force has inaugurated a special intervention project in Anipupo, Odeda LGA in Ogun, providing 30 solar-powered streetlights, an industrial borehole, and a 35,000-litre water storage facility.

This was announced in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja. It stated that the projects were unveiled in honour of Abidemi Marquis, as part of the NAF’s efforts to strengthen civil-military relations and improve living conditions in rural communities.

Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar said the initiative was in line with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The air chief stated that the NAF had a responsibility to positively impact lives, win hearts and minds, and contribute to community development beyond its combat duties.

According to him, by providing clean water and lighting up Anipupo, they are reinforcing the bond of trust between the Force and the people.

In his remarks, Mr Marquis expressed gratitude to NAF for the intervention in his hometown, describing it as a seed for sustainable development.

“When we come together with a shared purpose, no challenge is too great to overcome. This project must not be seen as short-term but as a foundation for lasting progress. I urge residents to safeguard it and ensure its sustainability,” he said.

Governor Dapo Abiodun commended NAF for what he called “a shining example of partnership that transforms lives”.

Mr Abiodun said the provision of an industrial borehole, a water storage system, and solar-powered streetlights aligned with his administration’s grassroots development agenda.

According to him, the facilities will not only alleviate hardship but also improve the standard of living for the people.

Community leaders and residents who attended the event described the intervention as timely, stressing that access to clean water and improved lighting would enhance security and livelihoods in the area.
