The National Hydro-Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission says it will focus on its mandate of transforming power-producing communities across the country.

Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq-Yelwa, the reappointed N-HYPPADEC’s managing director, made the pledge at the opening of a consultative management meeting on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi.

He said his reappointment was not merely a personal honour but a call for rededication to deepen the commission’s impact on the lives of communities in power-producing areas in the country.

“President Bola Tinubu‘s decision to renew my appointment reflects not only his trust in my personal leadership qualities but, more importantly, his recognition of the collective achievements we recorded during my first tenure. Therefore, we must never take this confidence for granted,” Mr Sadiq-Yelwa said.

He also noted that the essence of the meeting was to enable him to receive briefings from all directorates, state offices, and units, in order to understand the progress and challenges, and chart a new course.

Mr Sadiq-Yelwa said, “We are not starting afresh. We are building on a strong foundation that we laid together. But now, we must do even more. I return with a stronger sense of mission, a deeper understanding of our mandate, and renewed vigour to push this commission forward.”

Mr Sadiq-Yelwa urged the commission staff to eschew sabotage, rivalry, and unhealthy competition, warning against the destructive culture of rumor-mongering and power struggles that often cripple public institutions.
