Condolences pour in as veteran actress Peju Ogunmola loses only son

Veteran Yoruba actress Peju Ogunmola is mourning the loss of her only son, Ayomikun, who passed away at 22.
The young graduate, who recently completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was said to have died while his mother was away on a film set.
Ayomikun was the son of Ogunmola and comic actor Sunday Omobolanle, widely known as Papi Luwe.
Although details about the death of Ayomikun are yet to be made public, Ogunmola’s colleagues in the movie industry, who confirmed his death, have sent their condolences.
Actor Femi Branch recalled the moment he heard the news while on set, saying it left him with an instant headache, stating, “Aunty mi, only God can comfort you. This is too much, and no parent would wish this on another parent. God will hold and comfort you, ma.”
Also, Femi Adebayo described the tragedy as a weight no mother should carry.
“Life has written a line too heavy for the stage… Today, we mourn with our dear elder, a thespian whose heart now carries the weight no mother should bear. My thoughts and prayers are with you, ma. May Almighty Allah grant him Aljannah Firdaus,” Adebayo wrote on Instagram.
Similarly, actress Wumi Toriola expressed her pain in an emotional post, stating, “This candle is toooooooo dark to light. God, please comfort her. This is heart-wrenching, olorun oooo.”
Also grieving the loss, Biola Adebayo described the passing as devastating.
“This is a big loss; this is devastating and heartbreaking, truly tragic. May God Almighty comfort mummy Peju Ogunmola, who just lost her only child. May God Almighty be with the family and loved ones in this tough time,” she stated.
In an Instagram post, Toyin Abraham wrote, “My heart is shattered…I’m sending all my love, strength, and prayers in this unbearable moment. May God hold you and your family close, ma.”
Ogunmola is a prominent figure in the Yoruba movie industry. Her strong on-screen presence and experience have helped her feature in versatile roles in films such as “The House of Ga’a”, “Beast of Two Worlds,” “Maradona,” “Ayitale,” “Koseegbe,” “King of Thieves,” and many others.
