Kano State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KASA) said it is targeting N1.5 billion in revenue between September and December 2025.

The Director-General of the agency, Kabir Dakata, disclosed this in the Minjibir Local Government Area of the state on Thursday while briefing journalists on the activities of the agency.

Mr Dakata said the target was achievable through effective regulation of billboards, posters, street signage, and branded vehicles across the state.

He said, “Our target from September to December is N1.5 billion, and we have mapped out strategies to ensure this is realised. We are also targeting N3 billion in 2026 and N5 billion in 2027.’’

Mr Dakata noted that the agency was established to sanitise the state’s physical environment and generate revenue for the government in line with global best practices.

He further said the agency was established to control and regulate billboards, posters, street signage, and branded vehicles across the state in line with global best practices.

“The agency’s mandate covers billboards, branded vehicles, roadshows, tricycles, delivery riders, and advertisements displayed on shops or private premises. KASA will determine the number, size and location of structures, as well as remove abandoned billboards that pose safety risks,” the director-general said.

According to him, existing structures before the law must be registered, inspected and either approved, adjusted or removed if they fail to meet standards.

He added that the agency’s operations were not only to generate revenue but also to sanitise outdoor advertising and align with global best practices.

Mr Dakata said payments would be made through the state’s Centralised Billing System under the Kano Internal Revenue Service to block misappropriation from cash transactions.

He urged the stakeholders to comply with the law, noting that they had contributed to its drafting and were already familiar with similar regulations in other states.

He added, “As the commercial hub of the North, Kano could harness the advertising sector for revenue generation and development.”
