The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has extended warm wishes to Muslims nationwide as they commemorate Eid-el-Maulud, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

In his message, CAN president Daniel Okoh highlighted the potential for Eid-el-Maulud to inspire stronger bonds of unity across faiths and renew shared hope for a just and prosperous Nigeria.

He emphasised humility, compassion, justice, and devotion to God—values that transcend religious boundaries and build a fair, peaceful, and respectful society.

Mr Okoh encouraged Nigerians to reflect on the values exemplified by Prophet Muhammad and strive for a society anchored on peace and fairness.

The CAN president urged political leaders to prioritise justice, ease the burdens of hardship on citizens, and foster policies that strengthen unity and uphold human dignity.

He stressed that integrity and fairness should guide leadership to realise Nigeria’s potential for peace and prosperity.

Eid-el-Maulud is celebrated on the 12th day of Rabi’ al-awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar.

This year, it is expected to be observed on September 6, 2025, in India, depending on lunar sightings.

While the date may vary in Nigeria, the essence of the celebration remains the same: to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad and reflect on his teachings of compassion, equality, and justice.
