Trump vows posthumous presidential medal for slain Charlie Kirk as FBI hunts killer

President Donald Trump on Thursday promised to award a posthumous presidential medal to a conservative activist murdered at Utah, Charlie Kirk
The Federal Bureau of Investigation also announced recovery of a “high-powered, bolt-action” rifle believed to be used in killing Kirk. shooting the deceased.
Mr Trump during the 9/11 memorial at the Pentagon, said “The date of the ceremony” for Mr Kirk’s posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom “will be announced.”
“I can only guarantee you one thing, that we will have a very big crowd,” Mr Trump said. “Charlie was a giant of his generation, a champion of liberty and an inspiration to millions and millions of people.”
Contrary to earlier reports that the shooter was in custody, the shooter was still at large, while security agencies launched a manhunt for the shooter suspected to be of college age.
At the scene of the shooting on Thursday, a “high-powered, bolt-action” rifle believed to be used in shooting Mr Kirk was recovered as investigations to unmask the shooter continued.
The FBI also released a photo of the suspected shooter, soliciting information from the public to arrest him.
“We are asking for the public’s help identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” FBI said in a post on X, sharing the photo of the shooter.
