Deji of Akure begins seven-day ‘Ulefunta’ leave
The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, will on Monday begin his annual traditional ‘Ulefunta’ leave.
This is contained in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deji, Michael Adeyeye, on Sunday in Akure.
According to Adeyeye, the leave will last seven days, beginning Monday, Sept. 15, and ending Sunday, Sept. 21.
The palace warned that beating of drums under any guise within Akure metropolis is strictly prohibited throughout the ‘Ulefunta’ period.
Adeyeye added that the road leading to the Deji’s Palace will be closed to commuters during the leave, with alternative routes advised for road users.
Similarly, all markets, shops and stalls around the Deji’s Palace are to remain shut for the entire ‘Ulefunta’ period.
He urged residents to comply with the directive and continue their lawful duties without fear throughout the seclusion.
Adeyeye further disclosed that the traditional ruler would use the period to pray for peace and the well-being of the community.
