The Yobe directorate of the National Orientation Agency commemorated the National Day on Tuesday with a call for respect and dignity towards Nigeria’s cherished national symbols.

Muhammed Tikau, acting state director of NOA, made the call in Damaturu while addressing staff of the directorate as part of the commemoration activities.

He highlighted the importance of symbols such as the national flag, coat of arms, national anthem, the pledge, National Identification Number, Nigerian passport, and currency notes in fostering patriotism, unity, and national consciousness.

Mr Tikau described the symbols as sacred representations of Nigeria’s independence, freedom, and shared destiny, urging Nigerians to treat them with honour.

He further called on the people of Yobe to continue upholding the values embodied in the national symbols under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni.

The acting director stated that NOA would continue to promote public enlightenment and civic education across the 17 local government areas of the state.

He encouraged schools and community groups to organise activities that would help young people appreciate the significance of national symbols in nation-building.
