Group hails women affairs minister’s empowerment of 30,000 women in 18 states

The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has empowered over 30,000 women with palliatives and livelihood support across 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the Renewed Hope Food Intervention.
Coordinator of a non-governmental organisation, Social Integrity Network, Dalhatu Issah, stated this during an interview with journalists on Wednesday in Abuja.
Mr Issah said that the ministry, under the leadership Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, made remarkable efforts in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu
He lauded the minister for being instrumental in fostering peace, unity, growth, and development among women across Nigeria.
He stated, “Since her assumption of office in October 2024, the ministry has witnessed tremendous positive innovations. She established a Rice Processing Centre in Niger State through the Nigeria for Women Project, benefiting over 1,500 rural women in agro-enterprise development. Hajia Sulaiman-Ibrahim collaborated with the Department of State Services (DSS) to train widows of fallen personnel in vocational and agro-processing skills in the North-Central zone. She partnered with Wema Bank Plc. to empower over 500 women under the MOWA–SARA Programme, providing training in tailoring, catering, and hairdressing.
“The minister also supported the Super Falcons in their matches which eventually earned them victory at the 13th edition of the African Women Cup of Nations recently hosted in Morocco.’’
The SINET National Coordinator thanked Mr Tinubu for appointing the minister, whom he described as “a woman with human face and genuine interest of the nation at heart.’’
Speaking further on her achievement, Mr Isah said that the minister led Nigeria’s delegation to the 69th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69),
He added that the minister convened the maiden town hall and citizens’ engagement on May 29, 2025, with close to 1,000 women from all walks of life reaffirmed national support for the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking on women’s empowerment and livelihood support, the SINET boss said the ministry under her watch made significant strides in expanding economic opportunities for women through coordinated empowerment programmes.
He said, “These initiatives are tailored to enhance self-reliance, reduce poverty, and support women’s full participation in local economies, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
“It is on this note that we the entire members of The Social Integrity Network in our numbers pass a Vote of Confidence in the minister for her excellent performances so far.’’
He appealed to stakeholders in the Nigeria project to join the minister in her strides to consolidate and sustain the good work that she has been discharging to the nation.
