An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court, on Friday, remanded Zacheus Adelowo, 25, and Abdullahi Aminu, 28, for allegedly stealing air conditioner copper wires valued at N25 million.

The prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Sept.17, around 2:00 a.m. at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.

Mr Osanyintuyi said that Mr Adelowo entered into the premises of the university and stole an air conditioner copper wire valued at N25 million, belonging to OAU.

He said that Mr Aminu, between Sept .16 and Sept. 17, 2025, at Itasin Modakeke, received the same air conditioner copper wires, which were known they be stolen items from OAU.

The prosecutor stated that the offences contravened Sections 390(9), 412 and 427 of the Criminal Code, Law of Osun, 2002.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to a three-count charge of conspiracy, theft and illegal receiving.

Magistrate Kikelomo Adebayo did not grant the defendants bail but ordered their remand in Ile-Ife Correctional Centre pending the consideration of their bail application.

She adjourned the case until Sept. 30 for hearing.
