Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has met with the body overseeing traditional and administrative matters during the transition period of installing a new Awujale of Ijebuland.

Information Officer at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rasak Sekoni, said that the meeting took place on Friday in Abeokuta.

While receiving the Transition Council in Abeokuta, Mr Abiodun said the installation of an Awujale required a detailed and carefully coordinated process.

He recalled that inaugurating the council in August was necessary to sustain the traditional and administrative roles long associated with the Awujale Palace.

The governor was represented by the Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat.

Mr Abiodun assured of government support, stressing that the council’s success was crucial in sustaining the legacy of the late Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.

He urged the council to be united, fair and unbiased in discharging their responsibilities in the collective interest of stakeholders.

Mr Abiodun further charged members to maintain neutrality when the process of filling Awujale’s vacant stool formally begins.
