Volleyball federation boss urges stakeholders to work in unity
President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Musa Nimrod, has urged stakeholders to put aside differences and work together for the development of the sport.
Mr Nimrod disclosed this on Sunday in Abuja during the second day of the ongoing Comptroller General of Customs Volleyball Premier League.
The NVBF election is scheduled for Monday immediately after the elective congress at the indoor sports hall of the Moshood Abiola Stadium.
According to Mr Nimrod, elections are about give and take, and whether one wins or loses, the goal should be to contribute to the growth and progress of volleyball.
Mr Nimrod said, “For me, in volleyball, there is no difference whether you lose or win; we are going to work together, and that is what I believe.’’
The president said the importance of effectiveness and participation in the sport is that every individual’s contribution matters.
“Participation is key. It’s not just about being elected; it’s about being effective. Sadly, we sometimes have people in leadership roles who contribute very little. That is why the NVBF constitution empowers us to appoint individuals into committees, ensuring everyone has a chance to contribute meaningfully,” he said
Mr Nimrod expressed happiness with the direction sport was heading despite the usual challenges.
He stated, “There are areas where we face competition-related issues, but that’s normal in any political or organisational setup. What’s important is that more passionate and committed individuals are getting involved in volleyball governance. That’s a very positive sign, and I’m truly pleased with that.’’
The NVBF elective congress is set to bring in fresh leadership, further propelling the Federation’s mission to promote volleyball growth across all levels, from grassroots to elite.
