Man, 31, in court for allegedly dismembering corpse

A 31-year-old man, Abdulahi Olajide, who allegedly handled a corpse with indignity, on Tuesday was dragged before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Olajide, whose address was not provided, was charged with conspiracy and conduct likely to cause the breach of peace, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, ASP Musbau Lawal, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 17, at about 11.30 a.m, at Guru Maharaji area of Ibadan.
Mr Lawal alleged that the defendant and others at large, performed indignity to a corpse by cutting some of its flesh.
He said the offences contravened Sections 516 and 249(d) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Olaolu Olanipekun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 and with one surety in like sum.
He held that the surety must be a blood relation of the defendant and adjourned the case until October 13, for hearing.
