The Agro-Climatic Residence in Semi-Arid Landscapes has donated 11 vehicles (Land Cruisers) to the National Park Service to facilitate wildlife conservation operations at its new parks.

Ibrahim Goni, conservator-general of NPS, disclosed this at the pull-out ceremony of retired assistant conservator-general, Gabriel Agba, in Abuja on Thursday.

Mr Goni also disclosed that ACReSAL had constructed five new barracks and six of the new national parks, as well as renovated four of the old national parks.

According to him, the NPS has received donations of 11 Land Cruisers to enable its new parks to take off operations in wildlife conservation.

He stated that the construction of the new barracks would facilitate the park’s operations.

He added that ACReSAL had also been effective in training NPS personnel on issues related to climate change mitigation, agroforestry, and ICT, noting that the service had received a large number of ICT equipment from the organisation.

He noted that the NPS was among the 15 armed-bearing organisations in the country.

He added that, despite this, the service was still pursuing its presence in national day celebrations, such as Independence Day and other national holidays.

Mr Goni commended the passion and tireless efforts of the retired Mr Agba while in service and wished him a well-deserved retirement.

He said that Mr Agba would be greatly missed for his versatility in the operations of the park.

Responding, Mr Agba thanked God for the privilege of having a career in NPS, an agency that protects God’s great creation.

He thanked officers of the park for their support during his service at the organisation.
