Three children found dead inside car in Borno: Police
The Borno State Police Command has launched an investigation to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of three missing children whose corpses were found in a car in Mafa Local Government Area.
In a statement on Friday, the command’s spokesperson, Nahum Daso, said the case of the missing children was reported to the command by two neighbours on Tuesday.
Mr Daso said, “On 23rd September, 2025, at about 1400hrs, one Baba Zannah Jaridama ‘m’ of Zannari Ali Ngoshe Area, Mafa LGA, and his neighbour Muhammad Bukar ‘m’ of the same address reported at the Kaleri police outpost on missing children.”
According to Mr Daso, both neighbours identified the three missing children as Anwar Baba Zannah, a three-year-old boy; Mama Baba Zannah, a one-year-and-five-month-old baby girl; and Ahmed Muhammad, a five-year-old boy.
Mr Daso stated that despite initial investigation and circulation of information to all police formations, the whereabouts of the missing children remained unknown until Wednesday, when their lifeless bodies were found.
“However, on 24th September, 2025, at about 1030hrs, the complainant, Baba Zannah Jaridama, returned to the Kaleri outpost and reported that the corpses of the missing children were discovered inside his Honda Civic car, where it was parked.
“Police operatives swiftly mobilised to the scene and evacuated the victims to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), where a medical doctor confirmed them dead. The corpses have since been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy.”
He said the state commissioner of police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, has ordered an investigation into the incident and extended the command’s condolences to the bereaved families.
The police spokesperson said the outcome of the investigation would be made public and urged the public to remain calm.
