The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has fixed October 8 as the deadline for the remittance of 50 per cent of the state’s Hajj seat allocation for the 2026 pilgrimage.

The director-general of the board, Lamin Rabi’u, announced this in a statement.

The directive, the board stated, followed a circular from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, which mandated states to remit half of their seat allocations by the specified date.

“Kano was allocated 5,684 seats for  the Hajj exercise,” he said.

He urged intending pilgrims to process their Hajj drafts without delay to ensure the state retained its full allocation. The director-general said December 31 remains the deadline for payment of the full hajj fare.

The chairman of the board, Yusuf Lawan, prayed for divine support to enable the board to meet the directive.

He appealed to stakeholders to redouble their efforts toward meeting the target.
