Nigeria moves up to 41st in FIFA rankings, fifth in Africa

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have moved up four places to 45th from 41st in the FIFA World Rankings released on Friday.
The ranking also placed Nigeria fifth in Africa, days after defeating Lesotho and the Benin Republic in the Group C qualifier for the 2026 World Cup, billed for the U.S.A., Canada, and Mexico.
Meanwhile, Morocco retains the top spot on the continent despite dropping one spot to 12th globally. Senegal is second in Africa and 18th globally, Egypt is third and 32nd globally, while Algeria is fourth and 34th globally.
Completing the top ten are Ivory Coast (42nd, sixth), Tunisia (43rd, seventh), Mali (53rd, eighth), Cameroon (54th, ninth), and South Africa (59th, 10th).
Spain remains top of the global ranking, Argentina is second, followed by France, England, and Portugal.
