Nigeria dominates 2025 CAF award nominations
The Confederation of African Football on Friday announced the nominees for the 2025 CAF Awards, with Nigeria represented in several categories.
The continent’s football governing body shared the list in separate posts on X.
For the women’s national team of the year, Nigeria’s Super Falcons and the U-17 team, otherwise known as the Flamingos, were nominated alongside eight other national teams.
Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens were nominated alongside nine other teams for the “Women’s Club of the Year,” while the “Women’s Young Player of the Year” nominees include Nigeria’s Shakirat Moshood, alongside nine other African players.
Super Falcons shot stopper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, is among nine others nominated for the “Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year.”
The “Women’s Coach of the Year” consists of the Super Falcons coach, Justine Madugu, and Flamingos coach Bankole Olowookere, alongside eight other nominees.
Two Super Falcons players, Esther Okoronkwo and Rashidat Ajibade, are also among eight other nominees for the “Women’s Player of the Year.”
