Ekeoma Nzeibe emerges as NCRIB’s third female president

The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers will on October 24 inaugurate Ekeoma Ezeibe as its 22nd president, making her the third woman to occupy the position in the 63-year history of the council.
The investiture ceremony is scheduled to be held at the Landmark Centre, Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos, according to a statement by the NCRIB on Sunday.
NCRIB noted that Ms Ezeibe, a lawyer and accomplished insurance professional, had held several leadership positions within the council, including vice-president and deputy president.
“She is expected to leverage her vast experience in insurance law and professional administration to further strengthen the Council’s position within the financial services industry,” the statement read in part.
Ms Nzeibe’s career in insurance began during her National Youth Service at the Nigeria Reinsurance Corporation (Nigeria Re) in 1987/1988, under the mentorship of the late Joe Irukwu.
She later served as company secretary and head of claims at Liberty Assurance Company Ltd., before joining Industrial and General Insurance Company Ltd. (IGI) as its pioneer company secretary/legal adviser.
Ms Ezeibe later co-founded Crystal Trust Insurance Brokers Ltd. with her husband, where she currently serves as managing director and chief executive officer.
A fellow of the Council of Registered Insurance Brokers and an associate of both the Chartered Insurance Institute (London) and the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria. She is widely recognised for her contributions to the development of the insurance profession.
At the continental level, Ms Ezeibe has served as secretary, treasurer, and is currently vice-chair of the African Insurance Brokers Association, being the first female to occupy that position. She was also instrumental in establishing the Africa Insurance Women Association and swore in its pioneer president in Algiers, Algeria, in 2023.
