Man, 32, arraigned over alleged sexual assault on 26-year-old lady met on Instagram

The police in Lagos on Tuesday arraigned a 32-year-old man, Dare Herald, before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court over an alleged sexual assault on a woman.
The defendant, an artist, who resides at 1, Tesmot Close, Lekki Phase One, Lagos, is being tried for sexual assault.
The Prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the offence was committed on January 22, 2023, at the defendant’s residence.
Ademigbuji said that the defendant and the complainant, a 26-year-old woman, met on Instagram and started a friendship.
He said that it was in the process of talking that they discovered they were both attending the same church.
The prosecutor said that the defendant bought a Christian book for the complainant and invited her to his house.
He, however, stated that the defendant sexually assaulted the complainant by forcefully touching her breast and private parts.
The offence, according to Ademigbuji, contravenes section 263 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, L.A. Owolabi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N400,000, with two sureties in like sum.
Owolabi adjourned the case till November 20 for mention
