Defection: Matawalle receives PDP leaders into APC

Deputy defence minister Bello Matawalle has received many leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Zamfara who defected to the All Progressives Congress recently.
This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by APC spokesman in Zamfara, Yusuf Idris.
According to the statement, no fewer than 15 top leaders of the Zamfara chapter of the PDP who defected to the Zamfara APC were received by Mr Matawalle.
“Receiving the defectors, the minister assured them of equal treatment and opportunities with all other party members.
He described their decision to join the APC as bold and timely, considering the popularity and acceptance of the party in the state and the nation at large.
“Matawalle also commended the state party leadership for its consultation and mobilisation within the state, which has made the party more acceptable and popular in all the nooks and crannies of the state,” said the statement.
The minister further stated that the APC would remain united and stronger with the current strategy in place and its welfare packages being delivered to the people of Zamfara.
