CP disburses N33.8 million to 50 families of slain Kebbi cops

The Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, Bello Sani, on Thursday presented cheques worth N33.8 million to 50 families of police officers who died in active service.

Mr Sani, while presenting the cheques to the families in Birnin Kebbi, said the gesture was to support the families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

He stated, “The gesture is under the Group Life Assurance and the Inspector- General of Police (IGP) Family Welfare Schemes initiated to support the families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. The payment, totalling N33.816 million was part of efforts by the IG, Kayode Egbetokun, to promote the welfare of police personnel and their families.’’

Mr Sani commended the IG for his commitment, kindness, and continuous support aimed at enhancing the welfare of serving and deceased officers.

“The IGP leadership role has brought great relief to many families of our fallen heroes. His concern for their well-being has improved morale and boosted confidence among officers,” he said.

The commissioner urged the beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously by investing in meaningful ventures that would sustain their families in the future.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Sonnen Simeon, expressed appreciation to the IG for his magnanimity and described the gesture as timely and impactful.

He assured that the beneficiaries would make good use of the money to improve their means of livelihoods.
