Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina State, on Thursday, charged political office holders and public officials to serve with honesty, transparency and fear of God.

He said this in Katsina during the swearing-in ceremony of three new commissioners and eight permanent secretaries.

Mr Radda described the event as a renewal of his administration’s commitment to good governance and accountability, to ensure effective service delivery.

He said the event came at a time when his administration was reviewing its performance after two years in office, to strengthen the civil service and enhance its responsiveness to citizens’ needs.

“This government is now almost two-and-a-half years in office. It is, therefore, time for us to reassess what we have done so far and reposition people in various capacities to strengthen the system,” he said.

Mr Radda said the commissioners were appointed based on competence, integrity and track record in public service.

The commissioners are Yusuf Suleiman-Jibiya, Aisha Aminu and Sirajo Yusuf-Abukur.

Similarly, the governor said that the appointment of the new permanent secretaries forms part of the ongoing reform to professionalise the state civil service.

He, therefore, charged them to be disciplined, result-oriented, and efficient in supporting policy implementation.

“You represent competence, discipline and professionalism. We expect you to be the driving force behind efficient service delivery,” he said.

Those sworn in as permanent secretaries are: Yusuf Ahmed, Aminu Ibrahim, Aishatu Abdullahi, Dasuki Ibrahim-Abubakar, Lawal Abashe, Ado Yahaya, Sani Rabi’u and Nasiru Ladan.
