The army headquarters’ operational assessment team, led by Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Garba and Maj.-Gen. Olufemi Williams, on Saturday, undertook an assessment visit to 1 Division and Sector 1, Operation Fansan Yamma.

The visit was part of ongoing efforts to evaluate troops’ readiness and operational effectiveness in the fight against insecurity within the 1 Division’s area of responsibility.

The team, which comprised senior officers from the Department of Army Operations, was received by the commander of Sub Sector 3 at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Udawa, where they inspected troops, equipment, and facilities.

The assessment focused on operational preparedness, logistics, and troops’ welfare.

During the visit, the team addressed and interacted with the troops, commending their resilience and professionalism in sustaining ongoing operations against banditry and terrorism.

They encouraged the personnel to remain committed to their constitutional responsibilities and to uphold the highest standards of discipline and professionalism.

The team proceeded to Birnin Gwari, where they were briefed at the operational room on the current security situation, recent operational successes, and challenges.

The visit provided the team with firsthand insight into the field realities of Operation Fansan Yamma within the joint operations area.

The team also visited Headquarters 3 Brigade, Kano, where they were received by the commander, 3 Brigade, Brig.-Gen. Ahmed Tukur.

The team leader said the visit underscored the Nigerian Army Headquarters’ commitment to ensuring that operational formations and units maintain high standards of efficiency, discipline, and combat readiness, in line with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff.
