The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has said the Warri–Itakpe Train Service will resume operations on Wednesday after a temporary suspension of service.

The Managing Director, NRC, Jayode Opeifa, confirmed said this in a statement on Sunday in Lagos.

He said, “The temporary suspension was necessary to carry out critical repairs, maintenance, and system checks on the track and rolling stock to ensure the comfort, reliability and safety of passengers. The online booking portal will be opened by noon on Monday, about 48 hours ahead of resumption, via https://nrc-fane.ng.

“Passengers are encouraged to secure their tickets early through the portal or at designated stations.”

Mr Opeifa noted that operations would commence with seven coaches, comprising six standard classes and one business class.

He said the train timetable, incorporating temporary speed restrictions for safety and operational monitoring, would also be released on Monday.

“The corporation sincerely apologises to its esteemed passengers and stakeholders for the inconveniences experienced during the period of suspension and appreciates their patience and understanding,” he said.

The NRC boss assured the travelling public of the authority’s renewed commitment to safe, reliable, and efficient rail services as passenger operations resumed fully on the Warri–Itakpe corridor.
