The police on Tuesday, arraigned a 25-year-old man, Ezekiel Sunday, in an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged unlawful entry and stealing.

The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a six-count charge bordering on unlawful entry and stealing.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on October 10, at about 01:00 a.m in Iworoko-Ekiti.

He alleged that the defendant unlawfully entered the dwelling house of Popoola Ifeoluwa and stole one Infinix android phone valued at N80,000 belonging to the complainant.

Mr Adeniyi said that the defendant also unlawfully entered the house of Adegoke Joseph and stole one Tecno POP 9 android phone valued at N125,000, belonging to the complainant.

The prosecutor alleged that the defendant unlawfully entered the dwelling house of Oluwalemi John and stole one Samsung phone valued at N135, 000 and one power bank valued at N40, 000 belonging to the complainant.

According to him, the offence contravened Section 322(b) and 302(1) (a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The prosecutor asked the court for adjournment to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

Counsel to the defendant, Timi Omotosho, urged the court to grant him bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.

She adjourned the case until November 11, for hearing.
