AEDC begins phase load management of electricity in FCT

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) said it has commenced a phase load management exercise following the ongoing Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) road construction.
Phase load refers to how electrical loads are distributed across the phases of an AC (alternating current) power supply.
It stated this on its website in Abuja on Thursday.
According to the statement, the road construction affected the 132 kilovolt (kV) Gwagwalada-Kukwaba-Apo Line 2.
It said that to effectively manage the interruptions, the exercise would run in three phases.
It noted, “The first phase of this exercise will run from October 28 to November 2 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily.
”During this period, there may be temporary power interruptions in parts of Apo, Lokogoma, Lugbe, Pyakasa, Kabusa, Games Village, Guzape, Asokoro, Wuye, and Utako.
“Others are Jabi, Idu Industrial Area, Karu, Nyanya, Mararaba, Jikwoyi, Ado, Keffi, Nasarawa Toto, Nasarawa Eggon, Akwanga and surrounding areas.
“We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause and assure you that the exercise is necessary to enhance network reliability and support ongoing infrastructure development.”
The statement also said that AEDC teams would be on ground to ensure quick restoration each day, adding that customers would receive timely updates ahead of each subsequent phase.
