Kano approves N19 billion for development projects

The Kano State Executive Council, chaired by Gov. Abba Yusuf has approved over ₦19 billion for the execution of various development projects across the state.
The state Commissioner of Information and Internal Strategy, Ibrahim Waiya, disclosed this while addressing newsmen on Sunday in Kano.
Mr Waiya said that the projects covered education, healthcare, water resources, works and infrastructure, power as well as renewable energy, and other sectors.
He explained that about N5billion was approved for key projects in the education sector including settlement of outstanding liabilities and renovation of schools.
The council also approved ₦274million for the renovation and upgrade of health facilities, and ₦3.4billion for water resources projects.
Mr Waiya said in the works and infrastructure sector, about N10billion was approved for roads construction, flood control, and renovation projects.
The council also approved policy decisions on the construction of low-cost houses, acquisition of majority shares in KEDCO, and adoption of the Kano State Electricity Policy.
The government noted with pride the recent awards conferred on Mr Yusuf for his outstanding leadership and service to humanity.
