Zamfara to partner ABU on capacity building, agriculture

Governor Dauda Lawal has expressed his administration’s readiness to partner with Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in the areas of education, agriculture, and capacity building for civil servants.
ABU disclosed this in a statement on Monday. It stated that the governor made the commitment while receiving the vice-chancellor, Adamu Ahmed, and other management staff during a courtesy visit at the Government House in Gusau.
Mr Lawal, an alumnus of ABU, described the institution as one of the best in the world for its academic standards. The governor noted that supporting one’s alma mater was both a duty and a service to humanity.
According to him, Zamfara will continue to rely on ABU due to the quality of its teaching and non-teaching staff.
He added that the state had benefited from the deployment of experts from the university to serve in his government.
On agriculture, he said, the state would collaborate with ABU to promote mechanised farming, while plans were underway to strengthen intellectual and capacity-building programmes for civil servants and top government officials.
“This informed the engagement of consultants in the appointment of permanent secretaries in the state,” he said.
Mr Lawal thanked the vice-chancellor and his entourage for the visit and expressed optimism for deeper collaboration in the future.
Earlier, the vice-chancellor expressed the university’s willingness to partner with Zamfara in various areas to take the state to greater heights.
