A magistrate’s court in Jos, on Wednesday, sentenced a 22-year-old trader, Abubakar Adam, to six months in prison over possession of illegal drugs and causing disturbance.

The magistrate, Irene Pati, summarily tried and sentenced the convict, who had pleaded guilty to the charge preferred against him.

Ms Pati, in her judgment, however, gave the convict an option of a fine of N30,000.

The prosecutor, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on October 10 at the Angwan Rogo Police Station by one Mohammed Adam, the complainant.

Mr Gokwat said that the convict took the hard drug and came home and threatened to kill his mother before he was arrested by a vigilante officer and his older brother.

He added that when the convict was searched, some of the drugs were found on him.

He said that the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
