Lagos: Police commissioner decorates newly promoted officers

The police commissioner in Lagos, Olohundare Jimoh, has decorated a fresh batch of newly promoted officers with their ranks.
Mr Jimoh reaffirmed inspector general of police Kayode Egbetokun’s commitment to merit-based elevation. This was noted in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, on Wednesday.
Speaking at the ceremony at the command headquarters, Mr Jimoh praised the Police Service Commission for sustaining a credible and transparent promotion process.
He said the elevation of officers across several ranks reflected the commission’s integrity and the IGP’s focus on rewarding professionalism and dedication.
Those promoted included officers rising from superintendent to chief superintendent, and from deputy superintendent to superintendent, alongside confirmed assistant superintendents.
Newly decorated officers included CSP Agba Anna of Ajao Estate; CSP Jacob Gana Jiya of Ilemba-Hausa; CSP Hadiza Jidda of Ogombo; CSP Amoda Fatai of Ikeja; CSP Udomfiok Emmanuel of the Gender Unit; CSP Aroloye Bamikole of Agbowa; and CSP Momoh Kamaldeen of Apapa Division.
Conveying the IGP’s goodwill message, Mr Jimoh congratulated the officers and urged them to view the promotion as a mark of trust and greater responsibility. He urged them to show heightened commitment, sound judgment, accountability, and professionalism in carrying out their duties.
“Each promotion carries renewed trust and higher expectations. You must justify this confidence by upholding the Force’s core values,” he said.
Mr Jimoh restated his resolve to sustain a disciplined and professional command driven by purposeful policing. He charged officers to justify their new ranks through excellence and dedication to protecting lives and property in Lagos.
The promoted officers thanked the IGP for recognising their service and the commission for validating their career progress. They pledged to uphold discipline, professionalism, and leadership while supporting peace and security in Lagos.
