Delta: Man arrested with gun hidden in bread

The Delta State Police Command has arrested one Stanley Chibike for allegedly concealing a fabricated English-made pistol inside a loaf of bread.
Spokesperson for the command, Bright Edafe, in a video of him interrogating the suspect, said he was apprehended at Coker by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad.
“For every policeman, merely looking at you, if you have criminal tendencies, they will know. That’s exactly how the suspect was arrested with a loaf of bread. Guess what was discovered inside the bread?” Mr Edafe captioned the video shared on X on Monday.
The suspect, who during the interrogation claimed to be residing in Onitsha, Anambra State, before relocating to Delta State, confessed to the allegation.
The suspect said, “The gun was mine; I kept it for a long time for protection. Then, I now relocated here, and I wanted to move the gun from where it is to come and keep it on this side, where it will be close to me. It’s not like I’m using it for anything, no.”
Explaining how he got the idea of keeping the gun in the bread, the suspect explained, “I knew I can’t carry it on my way, and I need to bring it home. So, I just had the idea that I can put it inside bread and carry it and come out.”
The suspect claimed that hiding the weapon in the bread would prevent anyone from detecting it, but the operatives were able to notice it after collecting the bread and realizing it was heavier than it should be.
Mr Edafe therefore stressed the importance of proactive policing, which includes stop-and-search operations, to ensure that people get arrested before they carry out their criminal intentions.
He also warned that no matter how criminals conceal their intentions, they will be caught.
The police spokesman added that operatives of the command won’t relent until residents stay away from crime.
