An Ikeja High Court on Monday remanded Wasiu Akinwande, popularly known as Olori Eso, and two others at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly killing two persons.

The Lagos State Government arraigned Akinwande alongside Qudus Egbere and Sola Edun-Tomiwa on an amended five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, murder and membership of an unlawful society.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Justice Oyindamola Ogala remanded the defendants and adjourned the case until January 19, 2026, for commencement of trial.

Earlier, the State Counsel, Olarewaju Azeez, stated that the trio committed the offences on July 31, 2024, at about 11.00 a.m. on Mashalasi Street, Mushin, Lagos.

He stated that the defendants and others at large murdered two persons, Bolanle Yusuf and Yusuf Ramadan, due to a misunderstanding.

The prosecution also accused the defendants of belonging to an unlawful society.

He said that the offences contravened Section 2(3)(a) of the Unlawful Societies and Cultism (Prohibition) Law of Lagos State, 2021, and Sections 223 and 233 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The prosecution thereafter requested a trial date and sought the remand of the defendants in a custodial centre.
