The Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti has raised the alarm of plans to discredit the recently conducted governorship primary that produced Wole Oluyede as its candidate.

The party leaders in the state raised the alarm on Monday at a news conference in Ado-Ekiti.

Mr Oluyede emerged as the PDP candidate for the 2026 governorship election on Saturday, defeating three other aspirants.

The party leaders stated that there were plans by those they did not specifically mention to alter the outcome of the primary.

The PDP leaders, including Deji Ogunsakin, Segun Adeola, Makanjuola Ogundipe, and Kola Oluwawole, called on Governor Seyi Makinde, in his capacity as the party leader in the South-West, not to allow such a move to succeed.

They also asked the PDP leaders at the national level to stop the plot by those they described as ‘enemies of the party’ to overturn the people’s choice.

“Let it be known that Dr Wole Oluyede is the choice of the people. We have decided to win the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti through him, and there is no going back on this resolve,” the leaders stated.

According to them, those planning and making the move to overturn the primary, which was free, fair, and credible, are enemies of the people.

“Enough is enough. We do not want anybody to sell us cheaply to the APC. APC is aware that we have chosen a credible candidate who can win the 2026 election for us.

“They are trying to upturn the results in favour of somebody that was not accepted at the poll. The people have voted, they voted according to their conscience. They voted for the man they believed can give the PDP victory at the poll.

“The election was conducted, and the results were announced by Senator Ibrahim Dankwabo, former governor and former accountant general of the federation, under a peaceful and credible atmosphere,” the party leaders said.
