Governor Yusuf sends 350 Kano students to study in Uganda, India, Malaysia

Governor Abba Yusuf on Thursday bade farewell to 350 postgraduate scholars sponsored by the state government under the 1,001 Foreign and Domestic Scholarship Scheme.
The students will commence their studies in India, Uganda, and Malaysia.
In a statement by the governor’s Spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, the farewell ceremony took place at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.
Mr Yusuf urged the scholars to treat the award as both a privilege and a responsibility, stressing the need for academic excellence.
“Your selection is a privilege and a responsibility to excel,” the Kano governor said.
He added that the knowledge and skills they would acquire abroad would contribute positively to the development of Kano and Nigeria.
He also admonished them to serve as good ambassadors of Kano and Nigeria, showcasing the state’s rich cultural heritage while abroad.
Mr Yusuf reiterated his administration’s commitment to investing in the intellectual capital of Kano’s youths and assured the departing students of continued government support throughout their academic journey.
He prayed for their success and safe return upon completion of their studies.
During the send‑off, the governor was accompanied by his deputy and commissioner for higher education, Aminu Gwarzo, and the speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Isma’il Jibril Falgore.
