Ibadan teenager arraigned for housebreaking, stealing wire

An 18-year-old, Mustapha Isiaka, was on Tuesday docked before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, over alleged housebreaking and theft of electrical wire valued at N4.1 million.
Mr Isiaka, whose address was not provided, was charged with housebreaking, malicious damage, and stealing. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
The prosecutor, Elisha Tellang, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on November 21, at about 12:30 p.m., at Rainbow Estate, Arapaja, Ibadan.
Mr Tellang alleged that the defendant unlawfully entered the house of one Damilola Olatunji and stole the electrical wiring of a four-bedroom flat valued at N4 million.
He also alleged that the defendant maliciously damaged the burglary proof of the house, worth N120,000, in the process of gaining entry. According to him, the total value of goods stolen and damaged was N4.1 million.
The magistrate, Moyosore Atanda, granted the defendant bail of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until January 6, 2026, for a hearing.
